Questions?

Whatever they are, we have the answer! If you don’t see the answer to some of our most commonly asked questions don’t hesitate to get in touch at any time.

Why are you targeting people 16-30 years old?

Although our grants are open to all age ranges, we want to specifically encourage 16-30 year olds to apply. We have found that age group dreams big, but due to lack of life experience (whether that’s time spent working, schooling, or a bit of both), can really benefit from coaching and building the skills needed activate their vision. The 16-30 age group typically has larger financial barriers as well making it harder to translate an idea into a reality.

Why are you only supporting projects in the US?

For logistical purposes we are currently only supporting projects in the US. We are based in the US, and as a young organization, we are still learning best practices on how to spread our grants far and wide. We do expect this to change as we grow and plan to open our grants worldwide eventually, stay tuned!

What kind of projects are you going to fund?

The short answer? All sorts! If you need some inspiration, we’ve collected a couple of projects that have stood out to us before and ideas for the future:

1) In an effort to build community and bring diverse people together around a common interest, one woman took $1000 and organized a Blues Jam at a neighborhood pub. She hired a band, bought a drum kit, and encouraged audience participation. The Blues Jam was such a hit it went on for 8 years and many new friendships were forged and bands launched!

2) When the pandemic started in 2020, a high schooler, worried about how some of the families in her local community were going to survive without school-provided lunches put together a Kickstarter to raise money for them. She and her friends ended up raising about $7-8k to put towards lunches for kids affected by school closures.

3) Fund a community garden in a food desert area of an urban city to help provide fresh fruit and veggies to communities without adequate access to good nutritious food.

4) Begin regular cooking classes in lower economic areas to help provide healthy meal ideas and options for those with cost-restrictions.

5) Transform a community park with more sustainable drinking water options, trash receptacles, and places to meet/gather and host local events.

We fund do-gooder projects that give-back and add more LOVE to the world. We sponsor projects that are FOR something rather than against.

Can you apply for two grants?

Not at this time. Due to the high volume of amazing applications, we are currently only funding new applicants, not returning applicants. We are committed to helping our applicants be successful in the future, check out our Grantee Resources page to learn more.

Do applicants have to be a single person?

No, groups and individuals can apply. Groups such as bands, school groups, girl scout troops, co-workers are all encouraged to apply.

Do I have to be a non-profit?

No, individuals and groups can apply regardless of non-profit status. Many applicants have a one-time project idea that does not require the need for non-profit status. That said, all projects must be free to the target demographic and applicants must volunteer their time (you can’t use the grant funds to pay yourself).

Can you apply anonymously?

No, you can't. Part of the goal for Let's Choose Love is putting your voice out into the world for change, and so you can't do this anonymously.
