A Father Forever | Glen Warren Sr.

“A Father Forever” written by Beverly Jones

In 2008, Glen Warren founded the Raleigh based nonprofit, Fathers Forever: Healing Fathers, Saving Families. Glen has been championing the empowerment of men for over 25 years and has seen the difference it makes when fathers take an active role in their childrens’ lives. Glen and his team at Fathers Forever believe every child deserves the positive presence of a father. Their 12 week program works to restore the relationship between children and their fathers, by equipping fathers with hands-on activities to help set a new path as an active parent.

In our conversation, it is palpable how much Glen cares for these fathers and his commitment to their success. This is such a core value that Glen has written books to support others. Chat and Chew: 31 Life Learning Lessons, I am A Father Forever and When Love is Not Enough- (The Breaking of a Child).

Fathers Forever got the attention of the Christian Library International (CLI), an organization that works to get books into prisons. Glen knew his 12 week program and workbook could be used as a self-study guide. One obstacle remained; while CLI had the network for distribution, the books still needed to be purchased. Through a partnership with CLI, and a $1,000 grant from Let’s Choose Love, a set of 50 I am A Father Forever books were purchased, distributed and are now impacting up to 1,500 incarcerated men.

When asked what Glen would like to see in support of fathers, he shared that fathers are the foundation of families. There are a number of resources available for single mothers, but fathers are told to “get a job and figure it out.” Glen would love to see more awareness on the critical role fathers play. He left with this quote, “Our support of fathers is not matching their significance.”

Glen is helping to change the trajectory of families and building stronger generations. He recently finished his fourth book, Imagine a World Where Every Child Has A Father. Glen can imagine that world, and now he wants to create it!

Fatherhood is on the job training: However, both the trainer and the trainee have to be present.
