Partners in Positive Change | The Sanctuary Project & LCL

Some people would call it fate; others may call it divine intervention; we like to think of Rebecca and Wendy’s meeting as a sign from the universe saying, “what you are doing matters.”   Rebecca Folsom sang her way into Let’s Choose Love on the precipice of a season of significant change for all of us.  Like Let’s Choose Love, Rebecca is on a mission to extend her love into the world by using her voice and music to share the stories of the “under-voiced.”

Rebecca will share her 13th album, Sanctuary, on March 3rd, 2023.  As her most vulnerable and honest work to date, Sanctuary is a collaboration between award-winning writers, musicians, and producers.  Sanctuary is an album steeped with emotion and meaning.  Each track was written with a different purpose, bringing light and love to misrepresented communities, from veterans to people experiencing homelessness.  The Sanctuary journey started three years ago when Folosom created over 30 outreach events connecting with organizations and individuals living the experiences that would turn into the Sanctuary songs.  These partnerships and events have now turned into 13 powerful songs that remind us of our shared humanity.  Rebecca has curated a musical experience that uplifts and gives a voice to the voiceless.

“Mercy,” Folsom’s first single on the new album, came to life after interviewing a group of individuals who were experiencing homelessness and people who worked with homeless populations.  This song, steeped with emotion, connects the listener to Rebecca and her experiences of homelessness as a young girl. Produced by 3-time Grammy winner Tom Wasinger, this song is sure to give you all the feels!

A New Partnership

A partnership between Let’s Choose Love and the Sanctuary Project felt only natural after Wendy and Rebecca connected.  In a way only music can, Folsom created songs that speak directly to the experiences and struggles Let’s Choose Love grantees address in their give-back projects.  The women who have overcome domestic violence, men who have recovered from the prison system and are now giving back, and people addressing homelessness, climate change, and racial biases.  It’s as if these songs were written about the lives of some of our grantees.

Let’s Choose Love is supporting the Sanctuary project with a $5,000 grant, graciously sponsored by Continuum Consulting Services, to help the Sanctuary message spread, creating momentum and community.  Rebecca and her team are excited to share their music with our community and partner with other Let’s Choose Love grantees to bring more love into communities around the country.  We feel this is only the beginning of a beautiful relationship, and we are excited to continue to grow and spread LOVE alongside Rebecca and her fantastic team!

An album release party will celebrate Rebecca and the Sanctuary Team, on Saturday, February 25th, at the wonderful e-Town theater in Boulder, Colorado.  If you live in Colorado (or even if you don't), join us for a night of live music and heartwarming connection & community.  To learn more about the concert, check out Rebecca’s website

We will share some of the album's singles in the coming weeks as the Sanctuary project builds momentum.  It is our collective hope that these songs speak to our community and inspire us all to uplift the people around us.  Let’s Choose Love is a social movement dedicated to making the world a better place by infusing love and kindness into communities around the country.  We believe Rebecca and the Sanctuary project are a catalyst for cultivating love.  If the music from Sanctuary inspires you, sparks an idea, or reminds you of the mountains you have overcome, we encourage you to reach out to us.

“In My Little Town,” the second song from the Sanctuary album, was released today. Please give it a listen, and if it resonates with you, we invite you to share Folsom’s music with those you love!

If you, or someone you know, is interested in hosting a house concert, supporting the Sanctuary project, or have a story to accompany a Sanctuary Song, please reach out to us at admin@letschooselove.org.
